Everyone knows the saying "A picture speaks a thousand words" but I'd like to add "If you're listening..." because if you only glance at a picture you're going to miss the details. But if you take time and look and ponder, you're going to see something you didn't see the first time. The same can be applied to you seeing God work in every situation.
Our country is facing the same racial tension it has for generations-- but it looks a little different right now. Despite how it looks, I think it is every single persons (every.single.persons) duty to love first. If you call yourself a Christian, a Christ follower, you have no excuse for fighting violence with violence in this situation. Our duty is to love our enemies, to love our neighbors, to love God and to love each other. I am going to ask you right now to pray this prayer-- I hope your heart may find it right-- if not necessary.
Lord, I come to You humbly. I pray that you may grant favor on everyone involved in the George Floyd case. I pray for George Floyd's family and friends, that their mourning be turned to dancing as they celebrate George Floyd's life. I pray their hearts may be softened and they turn to You Lord in these troubling times. I pray that they know that You are working this all for their good. Lord, I also want to pray for the officers involved. I pray that their hearts may also be softened and that they understand that their actions do have consequences, but I also pray that they know that Your love know no bounds. Lord, You are all powerful and You can penetrate the hardest of hearts Lord. I believe that You can't tell us how you will use the strife in our country for good because we can't fathom it at all... Thank You God for not turning Your back on us, but further proving how great you are. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
If you were able to pray that prayer and mean it, it speaks wonders and God is clearly moving in you. I hope that through this all you can see just how loved you are. I hope you never forget how blessed you are-- no matter your color. Everyday is a gift and every breath not your own. We are called to love first. So, please, love first. Habakkuk Chapter 1 verses 2 through 5 speaks volumes right now.
Habakkuk’s Complaint
"O Lord, how long shall I cry for help,
and you will not hear?
Or cry to you “Violence!”
and you will not save?
Why do you make me see iniquity,
and why do you idly look at wrong?
Destruction and violence are before me;
strife and contention arise.
So the law is paralyzed,
and justice never goes forth.
For the wicked surround the righteous;
so justice goes forth perverted."
The Lord’s Answer
“Look among the nations, and see;
wonder and be astounded.
For I am doing a work in your days
that you would not believe if told."
Maybe you can't see how the Lord is working right now, but know that He is. His answer may not be this clear to you, but it's clear to me. God will work this all for our good. Have faith. See the bigger picture and look for where God is working in your life. If you look, you can't miss it.
