Existing, but not Living

Sowing Seeds of Serenity: For when your life is fatiguing and your faith is fleeting...

Do you feel like somedays you just exist rather than truly live? Life can be so demanding, and draining that sometimes it's easier to just nod, smile, and go through the motions. It's so easy to become consumed by our daily routines. So much so, that we just "go with the flow" rather than genuinely live. Our day and age is obsessed with the idea of instantaneity and a fast paced lifestyle. We crave instant results, instant replies, instant likes and despise waiting. Oh, don't even mention traffic, because that's everyone's least favorite inconvenience. But what would happen to our lives if we learned to love the inconveniences? I believe a new mindset can take you from a fatiguing routine to a flourishing restoration-- with God's help.

When you find yourself going days upon days without spending time with God-- pause. Take time and talk to Him. Deeply seeded faith doesn't grow without care. How can God help you if He doesn't even know you? Oh, don't get me wrong, God knows who you are-- He created you! But your parents can know you, but if you're never home, or never talk to them, they don't really know who you are. Talk to God about the good, talk to Him about the bad-- but thank Him for both. Every breath is a blessing, and if you wake up with that attitude your day goes from laborious to worthwhile.

Living with your eyes fixed on God keeps you from drowning in stress. There are countless instances in our day that the Devil tries to use to cloud our vision. I drive 40+ minutes to work, but honestly... I love it. Not because it drains my gas tank, not because sometimes I'm late, but because I get to spend 45+ minutes talking to God. I blast my Jesus Jams and just pour out my love or troubles to the Lord. Because I've asked for a new mind, I've been able to focus on loving God instead of stressing over things I can't control. It's hard to give it all to God, but when you do-- you live freely with a new mindset. You can brighten the moods of the people around you with the light of Jesus shining through you.

Pray for a new mind, a new heart, and ask God to help you become more intentional in spending time with Him. Pray for clear eyes, so you may recognize the abundance of blessings God places in your life. This will not come instantly, it will be difficult, and you may get frustrated--but learn to celebrate the small victories and thank God for every day!
